Uranine AP Fluorescent Dye

Go with the flow: The perfect dye tracing solution

Uranine AP from Merck Millipore – fluorescent dye for the determination of water behavior.

Uranine fluorescent Dye: Go with the Flow

Since the world’s first dye trace in 1877, when Uranine was used to trace water vanishing in sinkholes in the upper Danube and reappearing 12 km away in the Aach spring, this powerful fluorescent dye has remained among the best and most used tracer dyes for determining water flow. Whether dealing with water seepage, gushing wells, leaky flat roofs, damp cellars or chemicals in swimming pools, it is often important to know the source, destination or circulation behavior of water. Uranine AP from Merck Millipore has proved its worth in these applications for years.

Uranine AP from Merck Millipore – your advantages
  • Economy of use
  • Highest comfort
  • Biologically harmless

Uranine’s excellent tracing capabilities are due to a variety of reasons: Uranine AP from Merck Millipore is easily soluble and stable in water, has extremely low toxicity, and it is highly detectable even at low concentrations thanks to its fluorescence – in short, Uranine AP is the perfect solution for your water tracing requirements.

Uranine AP is economical to use

Save costs: Uranine AP is economical to use

Uranine AP has a tremendous coloring power in aqueous solutions. For example, around 1 g is sufficient to color 100 m³ of water (1:100 million). If you add 10 g of Uranine AP to 100 m³ of water (1:10 million), correct visual detection should be possible even in unfavorable cases. This high detectability, together with our competitive pricing, ensures a very economical use.

Highest comfort

Uranine AP is easy to handle, thus enhancing our customers’ comfort of use. The reddish-brown powder is easily water-soluble and can be reliably used even at low concentrations. Simply take two water samples where you want to perform the test before and after the addition of Uranine AP and compare the coloring. To improve the visual inspection, both glasses can be observed against white paper and/or in the light of a UV lamp. Uranine’s distinct green-yellow fluorescence in water allows easy detection. With the help of additional reagents, Uranine AP is detectable in extremely diluted concentrations (up to around 1:4 billion).

Harmless to life and environment

In the very low concentrations required for coloration, Uranine AP is harmless to humans, animals and plants. Uranine has very low toxicity ratings – comparable to the toxicity of table salt. Uranine AP is approved for use in cosmetic substances by the European cosmetics directive 76/768/EEC.
